Helping students with spoken presentations

Introduction:
The principal aims of this report are to outline and describe the different problems students have been facing while delivering oral presentations. The final section makes recommendations and suggestions as regards these issues.
Speaking problems:
Students generally have problems with speaking such as lack of fluency and pronunciation. Concerning fluency, students ordinarily stuck themselves and loose the track of the message they are trying to convey, making the delivery incoherent. When it comes to pronunciation, students lack the knowledge of phonetics, so they just guess the pronunciation.
Selection of adequate material:
There have been notable problems with the erroneous research and selection of information. Students look for the easiest web pages without concerning about the quality of the information. Moreover, not only are there difficulties with the selection of information, but also with the images and videos chosen. Sometimes students overuse images or information. Consequently, the presentation turns to be overwhelmed with visuals and the students get distracted.
Inconviniences in the premises:
At the moment, there are remarkable inconviniences in the premises with the necessary factors to deliver a presentation. The lack of internet connection is a crucial factor since if it is an online presentation it needs internet connection. Additionally, there are also technical problems such as a broken projector and deplorable conditions of the presentation area.
Recommendations:
Clearly, lot could be done so as to solve all the problems mentioned above. Personally, I would make the following recommendations:
  • Practicing and learning about phonetics to solve speaking problems.
  • Helping the students to become self-confidence.
  • Urgent improvements as regards the premises are required.
  • Providing students the necessary skills for choosing the correct material and research on reliable sources.
A combination of these recommendations will show a notable result on the student's attitude when delivering a presentation and also in this one itself.
